Ontario Northland Diesel Visits the IPP&W

More Ontario Northland Fun

Peter came down to Ottawa recently and brought along his Ontario Northland diesel along for the ride. 


We see the train climbing the grade along the property line.

The paint scheme is most attractive.


Here she is at the eastern yard throat at Bell.

Holding a meet with my train.  Yes. I'm running steam as that weekend's operations was narrow gauge.  Fred us most gracious as he allows out of town visitors to run whatever locomotive they bring.

Last season Peter brought two diesels with him.


I believe a friend worked on one or perhaps both.


They make a great pairing.


The 1809 is a GP38-2.

Scenes From a Session - Narrow Gauge - July 25, 2015


Narrow Gauge Madness

This week's session was narrow gauge operations.

Ron, a visitor from McTier is having fun at the throttle.
Fred later granted Ron special privileges to run his new CN RS3 for the day.  Pictures of Ron's run with his friend, Neil, can be seen in the earlier post.


While I assisted Ron and Neil with their train, I was able to grab the occasional railfan shot as trains passed by our territory.  This train is eastbound into Peter's Pond.


It would later run through Ironwood.


Bernie has a good handle on the run.


Colin is working Nelson Yard with this great looking 44 tonner.


Fred looks on as Gord and Colin determine their next move.


Paul is switching Ironwood while Neil observes the action.


Looks like the ore train is passing through Ironwood while Paul pauses from his switching to observe the run-through train.


Neil checks out the meet between Steve's passenger train and Bernie and Pat's train.


Ron handles the throttle for his train.


The ore train of empties rounds the bend into Spruce in a westbound direction.


This passenger train has reached Peter's Pond.


It takes the station track.


This eastbound train departs Bell in the direction of Peter's Pond.  Hmmm...looks like some garden maintenance is required at this location.


It arrives Peter's Pond.


While Ron, with his new CN road switcher, and Neil have cleared the main.

This mixed freight departs Bell.

Narrow gauge offers us the opportunity to see some pretty colourful cars.

What a blessing it is for us to have the opportunity to run this incredible layout each week!
