Doug's Northland Railroad

 

Doug held an ops session on his fabulous Northland Railroad this past week.

I couldn't make the session, but Steve and Seanna snagged a few pics on their phone for us to share.

The image above is one I took at an "open house" last year.  Doug set up this wonderful information board for the visitors.

 

 

Doug tells us that, although the Canadian Northland stretched all the way from Ottawa to Crown Point on Georgian Bay, he has chosen to model the route between Huntsville and Crown Point known as the Muskoka Subdivision.

 

 

This shot I snapped last year showcases Doug's magnificent woodlawn setting for the railroad.

 

 

We spot Seanna switching out the tracks near one of the terminals of the railroad.

 

 

Doug's magnificent bridges are showstoppers.

 

 

As are the structures Doug makes for our outdoor railroads.

 

 

It's a game of "Peekaboo" with this CN diesel.

During an earlier visit, I photographed the storage shed which holds the staging tracks.

I snagged this shot of Steve, Seanna and my friend from Nova Scotia, Pete, enjoying a viewing of the layout during the open house.

  

 

I particularly enjoy how Doug integrated man-made devices that work so well in the garden.

 

 

I will be sure to profile Doug's magnificent Northland Railroad at a future date.
