New Northland Ore Dock in Operation

We recall this image of Fred sitting pretty in his lawn chair admiring the lovely new ore dock in Craig Leigh.

We also recall the big grin on Bernie's face after a full day's job led to this finished product.

Well here we are on the following Saturday morning for train ops.
Bernie snapped all of the images and wrote the script for this posting.  Thanks, Bernie!
Steve and Pat are about to board Train 301 with an early departure out of Craig Leigh.

Brian with Train 15, the Pool Train later in the morning.

Aha!  Here's what we've been waiting for.  Bob brings the ore train up the line from Mount St. Helens.

He has brought his train past Northland into Douglas Yard.  This offers him the opportunity to back into the wye.

His first maneuver is to drop his caboose momentarily on the extension of the wye track.

He backs the first set of loads onto the ore dock.

It certainly is a smooth operation.

What a marvelous sight!

A very happy looking Boss alongside Bob.  It was great for this railfan to capture the inaugural ore train arriving Northland Ore Dock.

Four locomotives; Bob’s CN FA backs the ore train onto his caboose prior to departing for Mount St. Helens, Bernie’s THB GP-7 in Northland Interchange waiting to switch out train 302, Lawrence waiting to park his B&O RS-3 after he brought in 302 and Garry waiting to bring his CNR GP-9 out of the engine facility to pick up train 303 in Nelson Yard.

Lawrence with his B&O RS-3.  He had brought in train 312 with Garry as conductor and is in the process of taking his engine to the locomotive facility.

Garry will pick up train 303 with his CNR GP-9 and Lawrence will be the conductor.

A gaggle of railroaders at Peter’s Pond.

There appears to be two trains in Peter’s Pond.   Mike, the dispatcher on this day,  has left his tower to provide advice.

The gaggle having a good laugh.

Thanks for checking in on the happenings around Craig Leigh following the excitement of the installation of the new Northland Ore Dock!
Bernie Goodman, Yardmaster and chief bottle washer, Craig Leigh!
