Session 17 - Part Two

The second batch of images from our diesel session allows us to revisit the lovely ONR unit Steve received from Doug.    Doug did all of the customizing on the locomotive and Steve painted her.

She's in charge of 301 on this day.

301 pulls into the siding at Ironwood.

Pat overseas a freight car at the Windmill spur while the ore train ascends the grade between Blockhouse and Spruce.

Crew chatter.

They've followed the iron around the curve.

Where they arrive Spruce.

Pat shuffles the deck at the facing sidings.

While Steve is engaged in a more challenging activity!

Brakes are applied on the downhill.

Eventually 301 reaches the outer limits of Nelson Yard.

They hold the main.

As they await clearance to continue.

We catch up with Lawrence and Garry aboard their second run of the morning, Train 303.

With work to do in Spruce.

Long hood forward.

Earlier in the AM, they were aboard 318 eastbound for Craig Leigh.

When they utilized Lawrence's B&O diesel.

Now they have Garry's CN unit with 303.

Much later, as train 313, the crew work the Cedar Rock branch.

Downgrade past the crusher.

That's a long train a running!

We find Moe holding the siding at Watkins.

With Train 327.

Finally cleared into Bell, Moe has already run around his train.

Working Stuart Yard.

While Paul brings in the RP&M hop.

Moe backs his train from Track 4 to Track 3 to allow 302 in on 4.

Thanks for accommodating the crew of 302, Moe!

On arrival to Firgrove.

He terminates 327 and will soon depart in the opposite direction as 304.

Brian has Passenger 2 inbound to Peter's Pond.

The lead unit passes the station platform.

Passenger 2 slows to a stop at Peter's Pond.

Brian arrives Glenn Hammond.

Where he meets the ore train.  He has lost his B-unit due to a coupler malfunction.

Earlier, Passenger 2 arrived Mercer.

Where it is always right hand running.

A lovely meet.

Now we find him climbing the hill near Spruce.

Love that CP script.

Let's check in on Bob with the ore train.

Eastbound at Blockhouse.

At the pedestrian crossing.

Eastbound at Spruce.

Fred admires the cars.

Into Ironwood.

A great looking unit train.

Same location, opposite direction.

Heading past the depot.

Meeting the passenger train once again in Glenn Hammond.

George and Chris crew the RP&M train.

At Belson.

Later at Gouda.

While Malcolm has the other RP&M run up to Bell.

The tools of the trade!

Shunting traffic in front of Golding Grains.

On yet another sunny September morn.

A short hop.

Earlier Malcolm had worked the east end of Nelson Yard.

302 downgrade at Brokeback Mountain.

The crew hurries past catching some wind along the way!

Working the interchange area at Bell.

With a "very" handsome D&H unit enjoying the honours!

With Pete and Bill as crewmates.

Along Track 4.

Earlier around the bend.

At the east end of Bell.

Bill wonders if this railfan has anything better to do!  Hehehe!

Using the main as a runaround.

Pete at the throttle.

Love that livery!

On approach to Peter's Pond.

Over and under.

Through the pedestrian crossing.

Let's check in on the action at Nelson Yard.

Henk's got it all under control.

With Malcolm as one of his yard crew.

Basking in the sun!

This CN switcher handles the west end blocking.

When the CN switcher departs, Malcolm takes over with his Conrail unit.

While Fred enjoys the morning's activities.

Chris also works the yard with George, Malcolm and Henk.

Over in Douglas Yard, Bernie works the caboose track.

Later in the morning he makes the run down to Mount St. Helen.

Bill checks in on what Bernie is up to.

Bernie's a lucky man.

Everywhere he goes it is shady!

But he's no shady character.

Love that Redblacks shirt, Bernie!

Paul runs the gas electric down to Bell.

To work the milk and reefer cars.

Then it's back up to Firgrove.

While it's the trains we come to run, it's really the camaraderie which abounds which makes it a sheer joy to be a part of the operations...as Bernie's and Steve's smiles attest.

Fred's eye is a-healing!

Felicity comes by to check in on the fun.

While Henk offers delicious delicacies.

Rolling stock review.

Colour and variety!

Did I say colour and variety?  Yessirree, each one of us brings something to the session.
Pete and Bill enjoyed their run up to Craig Leigh after having met for the first time.

Have a great week everyone!  Mike Hamer, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
